Alright team, it’s time to give you what we’ve all been waiting for: a low sew version of Eevee (and soon to follow, the Eeveelutions!) This free low sew Eevee crochet pattern works up so much faster than my classic Eevee pattern, which means it’s quickly become a favourite make for my conventions and markets! Not to mention how popular it’s been with you guys. We’ll be utilising popcorn stitches and a combo of chains and slip stitches to create the arms, legs and mane all in one. I experimented with making the collar in the round (which was successful!) but preferred the process of adding it afterwards. And as with the others, I wanted to create a chunky version while following the same pattern – this time I experimented with some fancy safety eyes. I’m having so much fun with this series and I hope you are too. So without further ado, let’s get into the mini Eevee pattern!

Materials
Note some of the links on this site are affiliate links. This means I get paid a small fee if you decide to purchase anything at no extra cost to you! I will only ever link products I happily use myself.
This pattern can be made mini, with DK weight yarn and a smaller crochet hook, or chunky with a bulky weight yarn and larger hook. There are two material lists below for each version with the colours listed from the photos!
Mini DK weight version
- 3.00mm crochet hook
- 8mm safety eyes
- Stuffing
- Yarn needle
- Caramel yarn (Stylecraft Special DK 1420 Camel)
- Cream yarn (Stylecraft Special DK 1005 Cream)
- Brown yarn (Stylecraft Special DK 1054 Walnut)
Chunky bulky weight version
- 5.00mm crochet hook
- 15mm safety eyes (for the pictured doll I tried out some 14mm clear, off centre pupil eyes, with an orange-y iridescent backing – but 15mm solid would match the rest of the low-sew series so far!)
- Stuffing
- Yarn needle
- Caramel yarn (Hobbii Honey Bunny 09 Nougat)
- Cream yarn (Hobbii Baby Snuggle 02 Cream)
- Brown yarn (Hobbii Toucan 31 Chocolate)

Popcorn stitch
I use double crochet popcorn stitches to create the ears, arms and legs for Eevee. My original popcorn stitch tutorial uses single crochets as an example – so it can’t be followed exactly. I’m working on a double crochet popcorn stitch video, but in the meantime, where a single crochet happens in the original version, simply replace it with a double crochet. Besides that, the steps to create the popcorn are the same. Each popcorn stitch will say how many stitches are worked into it. i.e. 3dc popcorn – a popcorn stitch with 3 double crochets worked into it.
Starting with a magic ring / tips for working with chunky yarn
I start most of my amigurumi with a magic ring, but if I’m using chunky yarn I start pieces using the “ch 2” method instead because it’s a lot easier. Check out the working with chenille tips page to learn more! You can always use the chain 2 method as an alternative to the magic circle if you want!

Finish stuffing the doll and then close the circle by threading the tail of your yarn through the front loop only of each stitch – check out this video for an example.

(stuff the tail)
row 8: dec 6 (6)
Do a slip stitch in the next stitch to finish off, cut the yarn but leave a tail for sewing onto the body.
Collar
Before tackling the only sewing in the project, we’re going to pick up the collar. There are a bunch of pictures below to make these instructions easier to follow along with.
Pick up a stitch at the back of the doll between rows 11 and 12 – in line with the jog from the colour change.
[ ch 4, sl st back into the body ]x 10 times
[ ch 5, sl st back into the body ]x 3
[ ch 4, sl st back into the body ]x 11 times
In the front middle of the doll we’ve created some strands that are slightly longer, just to give it more of a pointed shape in the centre. This number of chain/slip-stitch repeats (24 little loops total) should be enough to join again at the starting position, but feel free to add as many as you need to make a complete circle.

Just a lil bit of sewing
Last but not least, we need to sew on the ears and the tail. Nothing fancy going on here! I use sewing pins to help me confirm the position I want and then I use the tail to go through every stitch of the piece being attached – like is shown in this video!
Sew the tail on the same way as the ears.

And then finally, take a length of Brown yarn and sew on the ear detailing!
